Scottish crafting entrepreneurs celebrate Scotland at Edinburgh business event

Independent Demonstrators for international crafting company Stampin’ Up! gathered from across Scotland for an inspirational crafting and business event in Edinburgh this month.
Stampin’ Up! is known for its exclusive line of decorative stamp sets and accessories for paper crafting, scrapbooking and home décor. The company operates via a network of independent, self-employed sales consultants, known as Demonstrators.
Over 40 Demonstrators gathered at the Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh to get advice on growing their businesses, share creative ideas- and celebrate the business’s growth in Scotland. The fun-filled event also had a serious purpose; to inspire the attendees to make successes of their businesses and to equip them with the knowledge and advice necessary to do so. The day’s agenda included talks giving business and marketing advice, as well as a range of crafting tutorials.
Recent research suggests that women are still facing an unfair disadvantage when it comes to starting their own businesses, experiencing more difficulty in finding equity financing than men. This is despite the fact that a report on UK’s gender pay gap by PriceWaterhouseCoopers found that encouraging female entrepreneurship would play a crucial role in closing the earnings divide.
Paula Gorry, Demonstrator Development Manager at Stampin’ Up! UK, said: “We were delighted with the turnout at our Celebrate Scotland business event. It was great to see so many of our Scottish Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators taking the time to come together, celebrate our success in Scotland so far and support each other as they navigate their individual business journeys.
“At Stampin’ Up! we’re passionate about inspiring women to be successful at doing what they love- whether that’s running a creative “hobby” business or turning their passion for crafting into a full-time job.”
