New Candle College Is in a Class of Its Own

School might be out for summer, but after seeing a surge in people taking up candle and home fragrance making as a hobby during lockdown, a Yorkshire company has launched a ‘Candle College’ to help budding candle makers hone their skills and offer inspiration to more experienced makers.
The free online resources from Mexborough-based Supplies for Candles includes inspiration, business advice, the latest fragrance trends, how to guides and video tutorials, covering everything from the best ways to melt candle wax to creating home-made candle wicks.
Nicky Story, owner of Supplies for Candles said, “As well as seeing many more people buying candle and fragrance making supplies over recent months, we’ve had lots of people - from beginners to owners of established candle making businesses - asking us for tips, techniques and ideas through our website, on social media and on the phone.
“So, we decided to pull together as many resources as possible in one place, so that makers can find help, guidance and inspiration for their hobby or business, without having to trawl the internet to find exactly what they are looking for.
“We already have a great community of makers on social media and we’d love to see more people sharing their latest projects with us.”
During lockdown, Supplies for Candles gave away £100,000-worth of candle making kits and business start-up support to people who have been financially affected by Covid-19 and offered free soap to Mexborough residents to help combat local shortages.
