JewelFund: £1,000 grant for jewellers with Jewellers Academy

By Mark Hayhurst 09 Jul 2019

Award-winning founder of the Hatton Garden-based London Jewellery School, Jessica Rose has announced that she will be providing grants to jewellers in business again in 2019.

The award, named ‘JewelFund’ is now open for applications from jewellers from anywhere in the world who have a passion for making and need some funds to launch or grow their business.

Jessica said: “Since launching Jewellers Academy membership a year ago I have been so excited to see the progress of the 300 plus jewellers that have joined us and committed to growing their businesses to date.

“There is so much you can do as a small business owner nowadays but I do know one of the barriers to growth can be money. This is why I’m so pleased to announce the launch of JewelFund for the second year.”

There are two £1,000 grants available this year and plans to grow the fund as an annual opportunity for jewellers. Recipients of the grant will not only receive the money for their businesses but will also get mentoring with Jessica for a year.

She added: “Having launched jewellery businesses myself, I know what it takes to get started. Alongside support, training and lots of hard work, sometimes we need a cash injection to afford the bigger trade shows, pay for equipment, rebrand or cover new expenses while we expand.

“I set up this fund in 2018 as a way to give back to the industry I have built my career in and support others building their own businesses. I enjoyed mentoring Rachel Whitehead and Zoe Porter, the JewelFund 2018 recipients, last year and I’m looking forward to the opportunity of working with more ambitious jewellers this year.”

These are grants not loans so they do not have to be paid back. Any jeweller can apply who is over the age of 16 and where £1,000 will make a substantial difference to their business.

Pre-business jewellers may apply but will need to submit a business plan alongside their application.

The Deadline for applications July 31, 2019. To find out more about the fund and to apply click here.
