Hobbycraft Start Seasonal Workshop Sign Ups Earlier Than Ever

By Emily Peagram 04 Aug 2022

Hobbycraft, the UK’s largest arts and crafts retailer, is continuing in its mission to get all of Britain making and creating by launching a new range of Autumn, Halloween and Christmas workshops which will offer a wide variety of different themed classes both online and in-store.

The new seasonal workshops are launching earlier than ever to help meet customer demand, as 2022 has seen searches for ‘pumpkin’ and ‘autumn’ crafts increase by 133% and 408% respectively compared to the same timeframe in 2021.

There has not only been a year-on-year rise, but also a short-term increase in demand. Over the last week, searches for the terms ‘pumpkin’ and ‘autumn’ have increased by 117% and 137% respectively, as crafters across the UK begin early preparations for the seasonal celebrations.

With over 20,000 workshop sign-ups in 2021, Hobbycraft has already made its 2022 workshops available for booking via Hobbycraft Class Bento, with sessions beginning from Monday 5th September.

The workshops are designed and hosted by Hobbycraft Artisans or craft experts. Each host will bring their expertise in specific areas of craft to create classes that encourage people to craft together, and an opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite.

For Autumn, crafters can learn how to design a cosy Autumnal Wreath for the home or garden. For Halloween, Hobbycraft will have classes on how to design a Halloween Wreath, and kids’ sessions on how to make Pipe Cleaner Spiders, Clay Monsters, Bats, Ghosts and more. For Christmas, there will be a wide variety of craft workshops available, including Ceramic and Fillable Bauble Decorating, Brush Lettering, Advent Calendar Designing, Wreath Making and more.

Customers can either head down to their local store and join an in-person session along with 5-10 other crafters of the local community or get creative with friends and family from the comfort of their own home by joining an online session. Public online sessions are available for groups of 1-10, whilst private sessions can be hosted for up to 50 attendees.

By signing up for a session, all in-store and online attendees will receive a craft kit with all the tools needed for the workshop prior to the event. Pricing for each session will vary between £5 - £35 (this will include a craft kit filled with the materials needed to take part in the workshop).

Katherine Paterson, Customer Director at Hobbycraft comments: “Since launching our workshop programme in 2021, the demand has continued to grow and I am thrilled that we are able to launch our seasonal programme even earlier than last year as well as expand our offering of new autumn and winter workshops.

There are many benefits to our workshops such as connecting with fellow crafters and helping with customers’ general wellbeing. We hope our new festive-themed classes will see many new customers make their own as we remain dedicated to getting all of Britain making and creating.”
