New home for The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show

By Mark Hayhurst 11 Mar 2019

Upper Street Events has announced a major move for its London craft show, The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show.

In 2020, the popular four-day Spring show will re-locate from Olympia in Kensington to the Business Design Centre in central London. The market-leading Knitting & Stitching Shows take place in London, Dublin and Harrogate and are the UK’s biggest events for the textile art, craft and design community, attracting over 80,000 visitors a year.

The move is part of significant investment in The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show which in 2019 saw a larger show with a fresh look and feel, new dedicated dressmaking content including a Sewing School, Eco-friendly Dressmaking Competition, catwalk show, Upcycling Challenge and curated Textile Galleries by acclaimed artists. Visitor numbers for The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show have grown by 11 per cent in the last two years, with organisers reporting that the 2019 show was the busiest ever.

Katie Ventresca, Event Director, said: “Interest in knitting and stitching is growing all the time and The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show has quite simply outgrown Olympia. Moving to the Business Design Centre is hugely exciting and will give us a big, beautiful, permanent home in which to expand and enhance the show’s content.

“The additional 1,000 square metres of floor space and abundant natural light will enable us to deliver a richer visitor experience with plenty of potential to grow our workshop and demonstration programmes, Textile Galleries, competitions, theatres and other live features.

“Reactions to news of the move and of plans to grow the Spring show have been positive. We are confident that visitors and exhibitors, current and new, will enjoy the benefits that the new venue will bring.”

Upper Street Events is one of the UK’s leading producers of passion led consumer events and has been organising consumer events at the Business Design Centre for over thirty years, including some of its most successful exhibitions like the London Art Fair, New Designers and the Country Living Fair.

The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show will take place at its new home at the Business Design Centre from February 27-March 1, 2020.
