Achieve Your Creative Goals in Lockdown With a New Online Foundation Certificate in Art and Design
By Emily Peagram 18 Jan 2021

Develop your practical creative skills in 2021 with a new one year, part-time Online Foundation Certificate in Art and Design from West Dean College of Arts and Conservation.
Through self-paced study, live study sessions and individual tutorials, explore a broad range of mediums and subjects, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Identify a direction for your practice and future creative goals as you complete a portfolio of work, which will be suitable for applications to go on to study at a higher level, to show to galleries, use for artist opportunities or focus your ideas.
Designed to fit around your day-to-day commitments, the online certificate will help you to establish momentum and resilience in your creativity. Supported by an online community of students and tutors you will improve competence and confidence in core art and design skills.
Expand your skills and experimentation through eight modules over one year, each comprising two self-study courses supported by two live study days, taught by specialist subject tutors from the short course programme at the College. In addition, there will be three individual tutorials, plus group tutorials and discussion on the student hub. All work will be submitted and assessed online and includes a portfolio of coursework, developmental sketchbook work, and a summary statement of 500 words. All students are encouraged to apply regardless of previous experience.
