REVIEW: Yarndale 2016

03 Oct 2016

The fourth Yarndale festival was declared an outstanding success when more than 8,000 visitors flocked into Skipton during the last weekend in September.

Held at Skipton Auction Mart, Yarndale is described as “a creative festival celebrating all things woolly and wonderful”.

Visitors travelled from far and wide to attend this much anticipated festival, from the Isle of Wight to the Shetland Isles and everywhere in between. There were also a good many visitors from abroad who flew to the north of England especially to attend the event.

Yarndale played host to more than 180 exhibitors, bringing an inspiring mix of yarn, fibre, haberdashery, kits, books, handmade garments, artwork and even animals to Skipton. Stars of the show included the most beautiful alpacas and angora rabbits which proved tremendously popular with the visiting public.

Throughout the weekend visitors could try their hand at all sorts of exciting textile based skills in the workshop theatre. Led by local textile artists, the workshops were a huge success and inspired many visitors to pursue a new found skill.
