If you’re making a list – start it now!

Lou Merry, Groves Product Development Manager, talks about being unseasonably seasonal.

At Groves, we have just launched our AW Christmas catalogue, a very strange thing to do on August 1, when temperatures were soaring up to 33 degrees. But, it is the same story each year, and like or loath the ‘C’ word, now is the time our customers start their peak season buying.

Our customers have continued to ask us for Christmas-themed items to make wreaths, table decorations, Christmas day place names and centre pieces, so we have launched a new ‘Occasions’ collection for Christmas. This is made up of competitively priced Robins, Poinsettias, Holly, Ivy, Mistletoe, Pine cones and Feathers.

Our Trimits felt kits go from strength to strength each season. At Christmas, our customers buy them to give as gifts to their crafty loved ones, or to make themselves for tree and home decorations. Many of these are also perfect to applique on to ‘make your own’ Christmas jumpers! We have ensured we stay in stock with healthy buys on all our bestselling lines and have introduced six new on trend designs for the season, including Llamas, Elves, Christmas Jumpers, Polar Bears and Nutcrackers.

Demand for beginner and intermediate sewing kits shows no sign of slowing, as younger consumers are starting crafting and sewing hobbies at an earlier age. Our Trimits range of cross stitch felt and card designs, continues to grow and in house, we have originated a further four Christmas designs, focusing on Gingerbread characters and Nordic themes. These have been successful, with independents and multiples alike.

The kits come complete with everything you need to make the whole project and cards and hoop mounts for their final presentation. The finished kits make perfect Christmas Cards and gifts, so these are great kits that sell well earlier in the Autumn season to give crafters enough time to make them into gifts.

The Christmas fabric trend continues with a nod to heartland and heritage themes; classics like hessian, linen prints and tartans continue to be the timeless bestsellers. Our Trimits range offers a range of fat quarters, rolls and sheets, perfect for small pickups and bulk buyers alike!

Pompoms continue to be another really accessible trend and our range offers already made, make yourself and more advanced kits to create your own Christmas novelty animals and pets.

With the success of its introduction last year, we have just launched a new and improved Hemline advent calender. A fantastic alternative to the chocolate stash and a perfect gift to a loved one, or a treat for yourself.
