Caran d’Ache Luminance: the artists’ pencils

12 Nov 2021

Fine art is really enjoying its time in the spotlight, and with it, an increasing number of artists are looking for the latest product that will elevate their work. Enter Caran d’Ache Luminance – a smögåsbord of 100 wonderfully vibrant hues loved by the pros.

The company’s original launch comprised 76 Luminance 6901 colours encased in FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council) certified cedar wood. It went down a storm, and so Caran d’Ache has upped its offering to give the nation’s artists even more creative choice by adding a further 24 colours, eight of which are unique to Caran d’Ache. But why has the range proved such a success?

Lightfast for years
Works of art will stay vibrant and bright for, according to the company, up to 100 years

Unique shades
Included in the 100 hues are eight shades only found on the Caran d’Ache colour chart

Smooth to use
The wax-based pencils glide seamlessly onto paper stock and are easy to layer for image depth

Easy to blend
The pencil blender makes it easy to mix colours and deepen their hue to every artist’s exacting standards!

They’re soft and strong!
These pencils can be sharpened to a point for detail work, but are equally ideal for covering large areas of paper

Suitable for all
Whatever the artist’s ability, the Luminance range will be a joy to work with. They also come in a range of pack sizes, making them accessible to new artists testing the water or professionals wanting to increase their range of tools. The 100 colours are available in sets of 12, 20, 40, 100 and 20 Portrait Colours, as well as individually

Paul Sacki, Managing Director of Jakar International says: “Jakar International is the sole distributor for Caran d’Ache colour products in the UK and Ireland – a successful partnership that has lasted for more than 60 years.”
