London Craft Week is taking up residence in the capital for the third time.
As a major sponsor of London Craft Week, The Grosvenor Series will give the public a unique glimpse behind the scenes of London’s finest artisanal craftsmen through a collection of events and workshops across Grosvenor’s London estate, Mayfair and Belgravia.
In addition, The Grosvenor Series has enlisted award-winning woodwork designer, Tom Raffield, to create a spectacular installation in Orange Square at the heart of the internationally renowned design district, Pimlico Road.
Raffield said: “This huge lighting installation showcases how quality craftsmanship can transform the beautiful natural resource of timber into a unique and immersive spectacle.
“We’re very much looking forward to being be part of London Craft Week which celebrates the renaissance and appreciation of creativity and craft, and would like to extend our thanks to The Grosvenor Series for helping to make our ideas possible.”
The installation, comprised of over 70 of Tom’s incredible intertwined wooden pendants hanging illuminated from the trees of the square, is inspired by the natural environment surrounding them and incorporates sustainable design practices.
The unique free to view installation, to be unveiled at a launch event today (May 3), will continue these themes, being handcrafted using sustainably sourced British hardwood species similar to the trees found in Orange Square.
The Grosvenor Series brings together a wide selection of fashion-focused and interior design-led events and talks, plus demonstrations of the finest techniques from varying industries and heritage crafts.
